Built with a three-layer structure, each with a different function:

Middle Layer - High-density urethane part creates fine foam.
Lower Layer - Urethane part with large air bubbles to keep clean and drain well.
The gray color makes color transfer after cleaning less likely.
Also available in a white color, that makes it easy to see when it's time to replace the sponge.
